A teleprompter, also known as an auto-cue, is a display device that prompts the person speaking with an electronic visual text of a speech or script. Using a teleprompter is similar to using cue cards. The screen is in front of, and usually below, the lens of a professional video camera, and the words on the screen are reflected to the eyes of the presenter using a sheet of clear glass or a specially prepared beam splitter.
Light from the performer passes through the front side of the glass into the lens, while a shroud surrounding the lens and the back side of the glass prevents unwanted light from entering the lens. Mechanically this works in a very similar way to the “Pepper’s Ghost” illusion from classic theater – an image viewable from one angle but not another – and the concept may have similar origins.

Memorized or Speaking Spontaneously
Because the speaker does not need to look down to consult written notes, the teleprompter creates the illusion that the speaker has memorized the speech or is speaking spontaneously, looking directly into the camera lens. Cue cards, on the other hand, are always placed away from the lens axis, making the speaker look at a point beside the camera, which leaves an impression of distraction.
Continued to Develop
The technology has continued to develop. From the first mechanical paper roll teleprompters used by television presenters and speakers at U.S. political conventions in 1952; to dual glass teleprompters used by TV presenters and for U.S. conventions in 1964; to the computer-based rolls of 1982 and the four-prompter system for U.S. conventions which added a large off-stage confidence monitor and inset lectern monitor in 1996; to the replacement of glass teleprompters at U.K. political conferences by several large off-stage confidence monitors in 2006.
The word TelePrompTer, with internal capitalization, originated as a trade name used by the TelePrompTer Company, which first developed the device in the 1950s; it is now a genericized trademark. Auto-cue, a United Kingdom manufacturer of teleprompters, also finds its trademark used in a generic fashion in Commonwealth countries and some European countries.

Teleprompters can be great for the host and the podcast itself. Creating and planning a source for words to flow freely, forming them into a script so the host doesn’t stumble while trying to remember all of the points they need to make. A host who may be talented, may improve exceedingly well when compared to a host who may not be as talented and may struggle while using a teleprompter. Trying a written script before investing in a teleprompter might be a good idea to try first.

An auto-cue of a teleprompter is a new term to me.
I didn’t know something as cools as this ever existed. This article is fully descriptive to the smallest details. It is nice to see a tool that can be used with our portable devices such as the Apple iPad. This is a device that a lot of the population either owns or has access to. Technology has changed so much in the last 20 years and this is yet another improvement on making life easy for us.
For anyone in the speaking industry or even if you are a student or giving the next big sales pitch the Teleprompter is a very useful tool. The cost is better than I had expected as these can be expensive bits of kit. At $199 with a carry case as well that`s good value. You can also use this with your smartphone too. So even if you don`t have an Apple one you can still use this product.
The product score overall 80 out off 100 in the ranking table which demonstrates just how useful this is to the wider user. The reviews of the product speak for themselves as well as this scores a 5 out of five starts constantly. So you know that you are buying a easy to use platform that has an amazing reading range of 10 meters.
I like the list of items that are not included as it is very clear on what you need to purchase as an extra to get the full user experience. Plus all the customer support details included as standard is really reassuring to see.
Based on what I have read as well the introduction video I will use this site to make my purchase of my own teleprompter.
